Wholesale and more wholesale

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the wholesale business? Chances are that if you have any type of enterprise you have. Most businesses that deal with products need to buy and sell, they need to get raw materials, find distribution, retailers, brokers, and other customers, assist trade shows or events, ready trade magazines and due everything to sell their products.

Now more than ever the wholesale world is changing, evolving, maturing and going international. International manufacturing makes it easier to source products abroad in countries like China, India or even our close neighbor Mexico. Communication through email, phone, internet and even using next day companies like FedEx or UPS allow us to communicate with importers, exporters, manufactures and brokers from all over the world.

ExtenZe Wholesale Product for Distributors

As far as new products go the fastest selling wholesale product right now in supermarkets and convenience stores is by far the new ExtenZe 4 pack pills.

It’s the male enhancement pill that you see on TV all the time with $8 million in advertising every single month. I recommend it for wagon jobbers, wholesalers and any DSD distributor. Check it out at www.ExtenZeWholesale.com

Distribution

What is the quickest way to get more distribution in convenience stores and supermarkets?

Easy, Get better products. Don’t be a market maker; remember you are not in the distribution business to launch products with your own money. You are in it to use other’s money to launch products and once they are proven sell them yourself.

When you see a new product ask about their sales in supermarkets or pharmacy, ask who else has distribution and then ask how much they are spending in advertising of the product in TV, Radio or Print.

That’s a good start!

What is new in the Wholesale Business?

I’ve seen a cross over of beverages into the main stream wholesale business. More distributors of general merchandise, groceries, health and beauty products and even tobacco are carrying beverages. Especially new age beverages like Energy Drinks, Energy Shots and other products.

This is due to the incredibly growth of energy drinks and other beverages in the wholesale trade. Distributors large and small are trying to get their hands in the latest products. The problem is picking the right products to sell as they are getting flooded with products from hundreds of manufacturers.

My recommendation is go with best sellers. Ask if they have support, advertising, and go as far as asking what their yearly marketing budget is. Remember, the products with advertising cost you the same as the products without advertising, but the products with advertising will sell more.

More to come…

3 Basic Steps to Starting Your Wholesale Business

Find out the benefits for starting and growing a Wholesale Business. Before you have your products, before you decide what the best business for you is learn the basics of the industry, how to start, find wholesale suppliers and grow your business.

The wholesale business is one of the largest and oldest industries in the world. You can date back organized trading to our first civilizations. The most important cities of the ancient world where trading posts that became important because you could control the economy in time of peace and also in time of war.

Now most business trade in some way or another, they trade products, services, something. Now it is easier then ever before to trade products, we have many more sales and distribution channels than ever before, we have many new tools to our disposal and information is easy to get and to transfer.

These days you can use the internet, drop shipping, telephone, email, bank wire transfers and many other resources to expedite business transactions and make it much more interesting for wholesale businesses.

There are many types of businesses you can start, run, or grow. It does not matter where you are in your business, fortune 500 or start-up. You will have a host of information to your disposal including articles, best practices, ebooks, lists of suppliers and how to guides.

Now you don’t even have to buy and sell products. Anyone can become a broker and just sell products without providing any start-up capital or investment. This works for selling to distributors, consumers, retailers, anyone.

Are you in business now or just starting a wholesale business? What type of business will you start? What products can you sell and where? How much money do other individuals or companies make? How can you start? These are all questions you should be asking yourself when exploring your venture. They are the most basic questions. Don’t just think of buying something and selling it. Learn about your products, where they are sold, who sells them, are they name brands? What are the prices for all channels? Who are the players in the industry?

More difficult questions will include what kind of profit and gross margins you’ll make, how to negotiate prices, who are the best suppliers for each product, how to find distribution channels for your items, etc.

The type of ventures you can find or start will include:
-Trading
-Distribution
-Exporting
-Importing
-Liquidations
-Many More

You should also learn about the different sales channels where you can send your products. Here are just some examples of sales and distribution channels you can use to sell your products. Each channel represents a sales opportunity, these will include:
-Online Stores
-eBay
-Selling to Supermarkets
-Selling to Convenience Stores
-Exporting to Mexico, Asia, Europe, etc.
-Selling to distributors and wholesalers
-Cash and Carry Stores
-Door to Door at retail prices
-Many More

Where you sell the products will depend greatly on the product and also on the pricing you have. If you deal directly with the manufacturer you can probably get great the best pricing available to anyone and sell to any channel you want including other large distributors. if you are buying the products from second or third parties your prices will not be very competitive.

No matter what kind of wholesaler you are. You have to try to work directly or as close to the manufacturer or brand owner as you can, or better, you can be the brand owner and sell your own products. That’s the best business of them all.

You can also find many type products including electronics, software, clothing, jewelry, and sports equipment, house furniture, that you can promote trade and sell.

Remember we did not touch on promotions in this article, just the basics of a wholesale business. Distribution is first but you will also have to remember getting the product on the shelves is one thing, selling it out the shelves is another.

Jorge Olson

Wholesale Lots, Liquidations and Closeouts

Have you ever wondered how you can buy wholesale lots, closeouts or liquidations?

Have you wondered how can you find them, how much to pay for them and where you can sell them?

It is easy to find closeouts, and sometimes easy to sell them depending on what you consider easy!! You have to like what you do, otherwise it will become hard. I’ve bought and sold wholesale lots, closeouts and liquidations for several years now. I will share with you the good and the bad about this type of business.

Remember to read my book on How to Start Your Wholesale Distribution Business and subscribe to my FREE newsletter by just clicking here.

If you want to get the real deal you have to put some effort. You will have to call the 3 categories of suppliers and start getting the name and number of the person in charge of close-outs. Yes, I know I’m not giving you the easy way out. The easiest thing would be to visit a “consolidator reseller” and buy from them but if you buy from a reseller you are leaving too much money on the table. Believe me, I’ve visited their warehouses in Los Angeles and other cities, the inventory they have is not that inexpensive.

Let’s recap: In order to get Wholesale Lots, Liquidations and Closeouts you need to call, call and call some more! The easiest to find are the manufacturers and the retail stores. Retail stores typically sell you by the truckload and pallet depending on what you are looking for. Electronics for example, are sold by the pallet.

Start calling your local retail stores. Call the chained retailers, not small regional players. Call the big guys and ask for their distribution center phone numbers. Once you call start asking who sells their liquidations. They will tell you will pleasure. Remember they are in the business of selling and they need people to buy. It’s not a secret, they need you!!

Supercharge your learning by reading the Wholesale Distribution Channels MBA book; find out the FREE details by clicking here.

Now you know how to start getting wholesale lots, closeouts and liquidations. Now you just need to learn the good and the bad about this type of business. You see, there is a reason why this product is on discount. Many times it’s a good excuse like “it’s discontinued” or “we just have too much inventory and we need to sell it at cost”. These are great ways to buy but the reality is that many of the merchandise can be damage, old, or slow selling.

Believe me, I’ve sold excess inventory many times. For the most part my merchandise was good buying the packages where damaged or completely destroyed. This is because they where store returns. When you buy make sure you know exactly what you are getting. Ask for photos, description, how the merchandise is shipped and all the pertinent information you can think off.

Thanks Again,

Jorge Olson
